Partisan employees are selected by their factions, Senate Democrats, Senate Republicans, House Republicans or House Democrats and/or individual legislators. Partisan employees work for the interests of their faction and serve at will. They work as researchers, press officers, lawyers, election workers and committee staff, among others. Partisan employees are usually very politically active. The aim of the book is to provide researchers with the tools they need to access each organization both in print and online, and to provide researchers with the basic information they need to develop a research plan that effectively integrates all available research formats. Connecticut Legal Research has been written for lawyers of various levels, including first-year law students, paralegals, and Connecticut practitioners. The book explains research skills and strategies with a focus on Connecticut sources. The book also includes instructions for legal writing and citation. In addition to chapters on secondary sources, laws and regulations, jurisprudence, and administrative law, Connecticut Legal Research includes a chapter on insurance law research that reflects Connecticut`s role in the insurance industry. The book covers all major legal databases as well as free and inexpensive online legal research sources. Employees of the three non-partisan offices are assigned based on domains and/or committees. These staff are usually present at hearings, committee meetings and deliberate in closed sessions to decide which bills to move forward in this process. Impartial employees are not politically active. They work in the Office of Financial Analysis, the Office of Legislative Research, the Office of the Legislative Commissioner and, among others, as a member of the committee.
